MADISON, Wis. - Mediasite by Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFOD), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, has been voted Best Webcasting/Presentations Solution in the Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards for the third consecutive year.
Streaming Media magazine released the winners of its annual Reader's Choice Awards at a special reception at Streaming Media West 2009. More than 5,000 Streaming Media magazine and StreamingMedia.com readers voted on this year's award nominees. Readers cast their votes on the top performing vendors in each of 22 different categories related to online video and streaming solutions in today's marketplace.
"The Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards are the only awards of their kind in the online video industry," said Streaming Media magazine editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen. "While other awards focus exclusively on content, this is the only awards program that honors the technology that makes it all possible, and it's definitely the only one where the people decide who wins. And this year, more than 5,000 votes were cast for more than 200 nominees. Clearly, people care deeply about the tools they use to get their jobs done."
This award follows last month's Streaming Media Europe Readers' Choice Awards, when Mediasite was named Best Webcasting Platform. Mediasite was also named Best Webcast Platform in 2008and Best Webcast Platform and Best Webcasting Appliance in 2007.
"We are proud that Mediasite has once again been named Best Webcasting Platform. Most gratifying is that the recognition comes from the vote of our customers and Streaming Media readers, who have helped weave the Mediasite platform into the fabric of modern classrooms and the enterprise," said Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry.
Since its introduction in 2003 Sonic Foundry's webcasting platform and services have set the standard for delivering critical information and sharing knowledge online. Trusted by corporations, government and educational institutions, the patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system automates the capture, management, delivery and search of multimedia presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.
