JVC SHOWCASES EQUIPMENT FOR PRODUCTION, SECURITY ENVIRONMENTS AT GV EXPO

WAYNE, NJ (November 17, 2010)JVC Professional Products Company will showcase a number of new products at the Government Video Expo on Dec. 1-2, 2010, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC (Booth 201). The company will display its full line of professional camcorders, plus other tools to help video professionals tackle 3D production and monitoring, Blu-ray authoring and duplication, and security and CCTV applications.

“Government is a very important part of our business, and it includes a number of different market segments,” explained Dave Walton, assistant vice president of marketing and communications. “GV Expo is an excellent opportunity for us to connect with a variety of customers. We will have an extensive display of cameras and monitors for production, CCTV equipment for security, and 3D equipment.”

The flagship of JVC’s ProHD line of camcorders, the GY-HM790, will take center stage for the first time at GV Expo, along with the new CopperHead™ ProHD KA-F790 camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver. Built exclusively for the GY-HM790 by Telecast Fiber Systems, the compact KA-F790 provides a direct connection to the camcorder without requiring external cables. It connects the camera via SMPTE hybrid (powered) or tactical (unpowered) fiber optic cable to a truck, control room, or “video village” position, and enables video producers to leverage the GY-HM790’s full studio functionality in the field.

Government agencies like the Denver-based National Park Service Submerged Resources Center have already embraced 3D production, and rely on JVC GD-463D10U 46-inch 3D LCD HD monitors to share underwater 3D footage with students across the country. The monitor has an integrated Xpol polarizing filter, so it uses inexpensive polarized (passive) glasses to produce flicker-free 3D HD images instead of expensive active shutter glasses.
Earlier this year, JVC introduced the IF-2D3D1 Stereoscopic Image Processor, which works as a 2D-to-3D converter and as a 3D L/R mixer. Housed in a rugged, 1RU metal cabinet and compatible with a wide range of HD formats, the IF-2D3D1 helps 3D content producers improve their workflow, whether they are converting archived 2D material or shooting original content in 3D. Using unique JVC algorithms, it converts 2D content to 3D in real time, which makes it an invaluable tool for content producers who need to repurpose 2D content or check 3D footage on location.

JVC leads the industry with its best-selling line of professional LCD flat panel monitors, and will showcase the newest additions to its product lines at GV Expo. Part of the Vérité Series of professional monitors, the “R Series” DT-R24L4D 24-inch and DT-R17L4D 17-inch LCD monitors offer the same 10-bit 1080p processing for critical image evaluation as the G Series that was introduced earlier this year. The new R Series features an advanced on-screen audio level meter and LTC/VITC time code support, as well as a non-glossy IPS LCD panel, which provides improved picture quality and maintains accurate color reproduction at wide viewing angles. Both models are housed in durable metal cabinets that make them ideal for broadcast, studio, education, and mobile facilities.
Two new low-cost 4:3 Professional Series LCD monitors, the GD-191U and GD-171U offer SXGA (1280x1024) resolution and are ideal for security and production applications. Built for 24/7 operation with better video processing components than other low-cost alternatives, the monitors deliver 5ms response time, 800:1 contrast ratio, and 250cd/m2 brightness. Plus, each monitor features a built-in 3D comb filter to reduce composite video processing artifacts and ensure a sharp picture with less noise. The new monitors feature non-glare screens housed in stylish, slim bezels, as well as a tilt adjustable stand for comfortable viewing and two built-in speakers for audio monitoring.
For security and CCTV applications, JVC will also showcase the new VR-N1600UA network video recorder (NVR) and new version 5.4 firmware upgrade for current VR-N1600U customers. Among other features, the new NVR doubles the frame rate and camera capacity (up to 32 cameras with the purchase of additional camera licenses) of previous models. The new firmware features a master/slave configuration that allows multiple NVRs to be connected over the network and share resources between them without a PC, which creates an integrated monitoring system that essentially expands an existing network without replacing equipment.
JVC will also demonstrate its standalone Blu-ray recorders, which are ideal for easy disc authoring for presentations, kiosks, and other applications. With a built-in hard drive, the SR-HD1500 (500 GB) or SR-HD1250 (250 GB) allows users to transfer video from a camcorder or other device, then assemble a complete Blu-ray or DVD project without a PC using a simple, menu-driven interface. The decks offer a variety of digital inputs for wide compatibility with today’s digital camcorders, as well as composite and S-Video inputs for legacy analog devices.
