Magazine’s first annual Readers’ Choice Awards recognizes products and services nominated by end-users
MADISON, Wis. — December 06, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for video management and academic, enterprise and event webcasting, today announced its webcast platform Mediasite has been recognized as a top educational product of 2012 in University Business Magazine’s first annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
The publication asked readers to nominate the higher education industry’s best products and services, and campus leaders and administrators from across the country shared what products they and their peers are using and how they contribute to their schools’ successes.
“The University Business Top Products report reflects our readers’ choices of companies whose products and services help colleges and universities deliver on their mission. The inclusion of Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite on our list is a testament to how this product is helping to transform teaching and learning in higher education,” said JD Solomon, editorial director, University Business.
The magazine’s inaugural awards program is featured in its December issue. End-users also provided testimonials that are featured in the issue, including Mary Ayala, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Science at Eastern New Mexico University, which uses Mediasite for lecture capture.
“Mediasite technology has greatly improved the pedagogy of online, hybrid, and even face-to-face classes. High-quality, user-friendly lecture capture means that students can tune in live or later to the actual teaching presence of our best professors,” said Ayala. “Face-to-face students can ‘attend’ when they’re sick without sharing the latest bug with the whole class, and everyone can review lectures and explanations before a test. We can now reach more students and achieve more consistent quality in teaching.”
“A sincere thank you to those who nominated Mediasite for the University Business Readers’ Choice Awards. It’s a true honor to be recognized by our customers as one of the best academic video solutions in the higher education industry, and we look forward to our continued partnership with schools across the globe as they expand their reach and increase success through webcasting,” said Gary Weis, chief executive officer of Sonic Foundry.
Trusted by more than 1,100 colleges and universities worldwide, the Mediasite webcasting and video content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of live and on-demand streaming videos and rich media presentations.
